A person behind the pixels
Hello, I'm Omar.
I like making things.
Graphics programmer, game developer, and a curious person with a soft spot for videogames, art, and music.
A little background
I am a graphics programmer and game developer with more than thirteen years of experience in real-time graphics and XR. My work moves between low-level rendering, engine development, and tools that help artists make something new.
I started programming with BASIC on an IBM 486 when I was ten. Computer science, videogames, and a growing collection of books on engines, physics, and cognitive science kept that curiosity moving. I still enjoy understanding what happens beneath the surface, then turning that understanding into something you can see or play.
My career has taken me through real-time rendering and VR at Framestore and Industrial Light & Magic, engine work on Microsoft Paint 3D, digital fashion pipelines at The Fabricant, and native graphics and spatial computing at LIV.
Alongside that work, I develop PanoPainter through OmixLab: a way to paint panoramic art without treating a 360-degree canvas as a flat image. I am also building OmiLith and exploring games including Drune and Glasswake.
Videogames, art, and music are the interests that keep meeting in my work. I enjoy the technical details, but the point is always the experience they make possible.
This site brings those threads together: the games I'm developing, the tools I make, and a journal about the work that connects them. Some entries are about a small rendering detail. Others are about the longer process of turning an idea into something people can explore.
Different interests. Shared curiosity.
Under the surface.
Rendering systems, shaders, and the low-level work that makes an interactive world possible. I enjoy understanding how the pieces fit, then making them work together.
Something to get lost in.
Worlds to explore and tools that help artists express an idea. Drune, Glasswake, and PanoPainter each approach that creative space from a different direction.
Room for the unexpected.
Music is another of my passions, alongside art and videogames. There's always something to learn by looking beyond the code and paying attention to what moves people.
The professional chapter
From immersive worlds
to the tools behind them.
My experience spans graphics engines, XR, rendering, and creative tools, with work at LIV, Industrial Light & Magic, Framestore, and more.
